India's week

  • Kumkum Mohod, aged 17, won the recurve women's individual title and the women's team gold, India's first Asian Games recurve team title, and added mixed team silver.
  • India's women's compound team beat China 238–234 in the final, equalling the world record of 238 set by South Korea at Incheon 2014 and retaining the title.
  • India's men's compound team beat China 238–237, and Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav won the mixed team event, which carried India's LA28 Olympic quota place for compound mixed team.
  • Neeraj Chauhan beat team-mate Dhiraj Bommadevara 6–4 for recurve men's bronze after Bommadevara lost the semifinal to Lee Woo-seok.

Korea's individual gold and two world records

Lee Woo-seok beat Japan's Junya Nakanishi 6–2 in the recurve men's final for his second Asian Games gold. In compound, Park Jung-yoon and Choi Yong-hee shot 160 from 16 arrows with 11 Xs in the mixed team event, matching the world record score and beating the previous X count, and 14-year-old Kang Yeon-seo shot a perfect 150 in a 15-arrow match, the first under-18 woman to do so. Both records are pending ratification.

Why it matters

Aichi-Nagoya was the first continental Games held after compound archery's Olympic inclusion was confirmed, and it doubled as an LA28 qualifier. India's rise from a strong compound nation to the top of the Asian table across both bow styles, driven by teenagers such as Mohod and Taniparthi, is the most significant shift in the sport's balance of power since Korea's recurve dominance began.
